Jodi has been excabated (taken her off of the ventilator). The trach is functioning great and providing her with more freedom. She is frustrated that she can't talk freely. Overall she is optomisitic and doing much better today than yesterday. The doctor said "let's get all of these machines out of here, it makes it look like she is sick and she is not sick."
Plan: The doctors are hoping to transition her to 3n unit (down the hall) within the next few days. This is good because she will be able to see her children for the first time. The speech therapist is working with her, occupational therapy will be in today to walk her. She is very dizzy and shakey when she stands...it will be interesting to see if she can walk.
Long term Plans: Doctors are working to get her to swollow (this is a month to month process, we'll see how she does). They are also workign with her to regain the use of her left eye (very blurry). She still lacks small motor control (writing etc...) but that will come. Doctor said this morning that she will spend 1 week on 3N and then go to (in hospital) rehab for about 3 weeks.
That's it for now. more updates to follow.
Please keep praying and fasting. It is helping.
