Jodi and Robert, Bryce, the kids and I are all praying for you. Our hearts are continually thinking of you and this trial you have been called to go through. We know that you will have the constant support of an ever-loving Father in Heaven. Certainly, with the miraculous surgery, you have seen His Hand holding you. We love you, Carlsons. Hey Girlfriend!!! How are you??? Jodi you are my Super Hero!! What a hard thing you are going through!! Sometimes our trials are just NOT FAIR!!! I'll bet you've asked yourself what did I do to deserve this? I know that if I had a dollar everytime I said that last year, I could have had a new car or something! haha One thing I do know, is that our trials are for our benefit. We might not see them till it is long over! But we grow from them!! When I was your visiting teacher we had many long talks of ALL the hard things that you had already been through and you were SO stong with those!! I beleive you can do this one too. I admire your strength and courage!!! You will need to write a book one day! Encouraging all of us!!! Please let us know if we can do anything to help! Jodi, Your ability to fight through this unimaginable challenge and do it with the most beautiful smile on your face has been inspiring to every one of us. We are all by your side as it is a privilege to know and follow with you through this time in your life. You are obviously someone very special and one we think the world of. Jodi, you're a remarkable woman. You and I had talked about you teaching your children how to sign...and now God has turned this to good for you. So many times we can look back and see the hand of God in our lives...it is just difficult to see the good in our struggles when we are in them. I have known you to have an upbeat spirit and a heart of gratitude (you baked me your wonderful brownies). I know that you will be working very hard during this time also. You are setting an example for your children that will be a part of their character forever. My thoughts and prayers are with and your family. Jodi...you are dearly loved...by oh, so many!
On Thursday, November 29th, Jodi became dizzy and passed out. This had also happened to her one week earlier while shopping. She was taken to Davis hospital. Throughout the day on Thursday, Jodi started to lose her ability to swallow and to speak. At about 4pm, they ran an MRI and MRV and determined that Jodi had a massive blood clot at the base of her brain. They life-flighted her to the University of Utah where a team was waiting to perform emergency surgery to remove the clot. Her Dr. was in Los Angelas at the time and after arriving at the University of Utah, she began the surgery. During the surgery, she, (the Dr.) determined that the blood clot was too large and the vein too weak to allow her to remove the clot. She performed a procedure that was entirely revolutionary and experimental in an effort to save Jodi's life. She placed a several stints in the vein at the base of Jodi's brain to allow blood to that part of the brain. Miraculously, Jodi survived the surgery. Everything past that night is a miracle to her Dr., and our entire family. This blog chronicles her progress since that time.
