Jan 25th

Considering that Jodi just got out of ICU, is having a hard time with decreased lung capacity and has a small plural effusion on the right side, she is doing gang busters in rehab. She is a little discouraged that she is having to start at square one on some things such as getting her trach out, but she was able to go in a wheel chair to physical therapy and do some balance exercises. She tires easily due to the above problems but she’s doing great. She is able find middle when the physical therapist pushes against her right shoulder (as if to knock her off balance to her left) and then pushes against her shoulder to her right. She can reach for things without falling over and she can balance with both of her hands in her lap while sitting. These may seem like small things but for her, they are big. When she started PT her first go around, she could not do them. She got out of bed two times and into the wheel chair. An hour each time. She has been down in bed for so long that she gets dizzy easily while she is up and feels disoriented. The more that she gets up, the easier it will get. Jodi will probably not be working towards walking until her right foot begins to improve (hence the botox injections) which should be in about two weeks.
Please keep those comments coming she looks so forward to them. Connie

Congrats, Jodi, on making so much progress! It must feel so good to be back in Rehab. I am so proud of you! Here at the NCSBS, we are all still thinking about you and hoping for speedy progress. Thought you might be interested to know that this is my last week here. I am going to stay home with my kids and be a mom to my four little ones, without the distractions of a full-time job. As you know, it is a hard decision to make...but you actually helped me make it. I look at what you are going through and realize that family is what really matters. Nothing else is as important, so I have decided to dedicate 100% to my kids. As all moms know, I am sure there will be days when I am going crazy, but mostly I am excited to have the chance to really focus on them with all my energy.

I saw your little Anna at Church with Wendy on Sunday. She is the sweetest little thing. Already my little Daven is 9 months old and growing so much. Anna Jain still looks little and "pink". She is beautiful and I know she is really being taken care of. I taught Primary on Sunday and Matthew said she was his baby sister...they all love her so much.

We all love you and continue to think of you and pray for you. Keep up the good work!

Hey, Jod, Just thinking about you and wanted to say "Hi." I hope your recent days have been good ones. I check your blog a couple of times a day, looking for news. Promise, I'm not a stalker! Once you are better and home, I'll ignore you again. Anyway, you take care and keep fighting that fight. Love and prayers to all, Karen
