January 18 - Friday

Jodi had so much of a better day today. Pleeeeeease let it continue! She looked so good, her sense of humor was back, she was able to get out of bed and stand as well as do other strengthening exercises. She is tolerating her tube feedings through her nose. Her pain was not as significant. The only downer is that the chest tube that is draining off the fluids from her right sided plural effusion clotted and will have to be replaced tomorrow morning which may cause added pain. It also means that she will have to be infused with platelets and have her blood thinners on hold again. I (Jodi’s mom) have come home to Riverdale for the first time in a month so that I can watch Ana Jain (Jodi’s new baby) while Jodi’s sister Wendy stays with Jodi tomorrow. A change of scene for all of us. I sincerely pray that all goes well while I am home and not at Jodi’s side. Jodi wants me to say how much she loves for me to read the messages from each of you. She loves you all and thanks you for caring about her and her family in so many ways. She says “you just do not realize how important all your friends and family are to you until you are supported by them during such a difficult time as this.” Yes, she signed all of that to me and I actually understood it.

JoDween, Would you hurry up and get out of isolaton so I can have my social life back. I actually have to work full days with no hospital breaks...I miss hospital breaks.
Also, my mothering skills have suffered without my daily calls to the ask-a-nurse Jodi hotline.
Glad to hear that you are on an upward trend. I can't even imagine how difficult this has been for you and your family. You are in our prayers daily and constantly in my thoughts.
Keep going strong and I will see you soon. Love,
Markly and Maima

PS Markly thanks you for getting rid of his hiccups. (Napkin over the cup)

Hey, Jodi, I promised you comments, so here I go again!! I am so glad to hear that Friday was a good day for you. I hope everything went well with the replacement of the chest tube. I think about you all the time and hope and pray you are getting better. I also think about your sweet mom everytime I go by her house and see it empty...I am sure you feel blessed to have her there with you so much of the time. You have a truly wonderful, supportive family. I hope you can get home to all of them soon!

Today at church we had talks about being disciples of Christ. You and your family are truly disciples. Many would being bitter, angry and mad at God, but instead you and your family have reached out to others and demonstrated your faith, hope and love to all of us. Thank you for hanging in there, even on the tough days.

Love,
Jodi Brown
