February 5th

Jodi does not have the “HO” in her right hip and leg. Hooray! It looks as if she has pulled two different muscles in her hip and thigh. She can work with that problem. She also does have a slight bout of pneumonia going on after all and her central line is contaminated so they had to pull it. Tonight, they are giving her two units of blood because her red blood counts are low. As I was leaving her in the care of Robert, The nurses were once more struggling to find a good vein to start another IV. The blood should help her feel more energetic as well as hopefully help her wean from the oxygen she is getting. I left her tonight in good spirits. She still has a lot of pain. They are giving her a 72hr. phentenol patch as well as smaller doses of Lortab when she needs it. She keeps getting such sweet comments from all of you and she often sheds a tear or two when we read them to her. As her family, we really appreciate those comments as they help her see past her immediate problems and focus on the future. She did some scrapbooking in occupational therapy and walked and stood for 5 seconds on her own as well as exercised on a bike of sorts. She just keeps plugging forward.

Hey Jodi,

congrats on moving back to Rehab. I may be joining you tonight after i go snowboarding for the first time... ugh, hee hee. I am so amazed every time I read about your progress. Your strength and the love and support of your family and friends is remarkable. I'm not sure I want to take you on in any more parking lot brawls, i'm pretty sure you'll beat me now.. so as of right now I think i'll retire as parking lot brawl champion and i'll consider a "Rocky" comeback when you're ready for it again! Hugs and no kisses cuz i'm sick.. hee hee. Love ya much. Bridge

Hi Jodi, I hope the last few days have been good ones. It is a beautiful day, today, and I can't help but hope and pray that you will soon be home enjoying the small and beautiful things, too. Jack and Bella send their hugs and kisses, and they pray the sweet and innocent prayers that make everything seem possible. (Of course, then one of them will smack or do something to the other one, and the lovely moment is lost!) Love and prayers, Karen
