Tuesday

A much better day today. Due to the stroke and the things that it does to the brain chemistry, Jodi has been on an anti-depressant since the stroke occurred. When she began having nausea with the flu symptoms, I requested that they not put anything into the peg tube that might irritate the stomach. As a result, they discontinued all medications that had to be put into her stomach through that tube except Plavix (protects against blood clotting). When she got better, they resumed her meds . However, they messed up and forgot to give her the anti-depressant. She has been without it for about a week. That is a lot of the reason why she fell apart. Today was up and down emotionally for her but more up than down. I expect that she will improve each day until she is back to her old self. What would we do without modern medicines?
I think that she is getting better with her swallow even though it is in minute degrees. Today she controlled her secretions much better than two days ago. She participated in all therapies except the last only because she got quite nauseated. When I left her, she was with Robert and doing very well. Her new go home date is March 14th.
